As the weeks go by, more and more iPhone 17 Air reports are coming out. However, we also read news about an alleged budget MacBook by the end of the year. Read on below to check out what's new.

iPhone 17 Air: Pro Chip but Slight GPU Downgrade

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is shaping up to be its thinnest handset yet—expected to measure just 5.5 mm thick and replace the longstanding "Plus" variant. The ultra-slim aesthetic is paired with a compelling spec sheet: it is rumoured to pack the A19 Pro chip with 12GB of RAM, echoing high-end performance, though with one distinction.

A trusted Weibo leaker, Fixed Focus Digital, claims the Air’s A19 Pro will feature a 5-core GPU, while its Pro and Pro Max siblings enjoy the full 6-core version. The slight graphics dip appears manufacturer-driven—likely to manage thermal limits—but is unlikely to be noticeable to most users.

Affordable MacBook: iPhone Chip Inside, Price Tag Below ~RM2.9K

On the laptop side, Apple is reportedly crafting a budget-friendly MacBook aimed squarely at cost-conscious consumers. Set to enter production in Q3 2025, this entry-level model will feature a 12.9-inch display but ditches the usual M-series Silicon for mobile-class power, running on the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro.

While this may mean trade-offs in display quality, RAM, and storage, the $700 (~RM2.9K) launch price could significantly broaden Mac’s appeal. Analysts even predict this move may boost Apple’s annual MacBook shipments by 30–40%.

We could be seeing the new iPhone 17 Air alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 series lineup on 9 September 2025, albeit no launch date has been confirmed by Apple yet. On the other hand, we could see a budget-friendly A18 Pro chip MacBook by the end of the year. That remains to be seen, though, so sit tight and wait for the official news only at TechNave.com.
