News about the iPhone 17 Air has been getting some momentum over the past few months. As Apple is reportedly preparing for this model this year, we have some new information about its features.
According to sources, the iPhone 17 Air is said to measure just 5.5mm in thickness and weigh approximately 145 grams, potentially making it the thinnest and lightest iPhone to date. On top of that, it is also rumoured to incorporate a 6.6-inch OLED display with ProMotion technology, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals. We can also expect it to be powered by the upcoming A19 Bionic chipset and C1 modem.
Among all these features, perhaps the most intriguing is the anticipated use of silicon-anode battery cells, developed in collaboration with supplier TDK. Compared with the standard lithium-ion batteries currently used in smartphones, silicon batteries are designed to offer up to 15% more energy density, potentially offsetting the reduced physical battery size.
Not only that, Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered battery management system within iOS 19, which would optimise energy usage based on individual user behaviour. Besides that, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a single 48MP rear camera and a 24MP front-facing camera.
Lastly, the iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to be priced starting at approximately $899 (~RM3.8K). We will have to wait until the annual Apple Event in September when the company formally reveals the iPhone 17 series lineup with the tech specs, prices and availability. Stay tuned until then.
