The iPhone 16 series has yet to be released but we now have some information about the iPhone 17. Coming from reputable industry analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, he claims that the iPhone 17 series will have a huge RAM upgrade of up to 12GB.
12GB of RAM is nothing new for Android phones but for Apple's case, this is because the upgraded RAM is meant to enhance on-device AI capabilities. Along the 2025 lineup, only the iPhone 17 Pro Max would get 12GB of RAM, whereas the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, the alleged iPhone 17 Air and iPhone SE4 use 8GB of RAM, said Ming.
In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to have an upgraded cooling system and will combine with vapour chamber technology and graphite sheets. The rest of the lineup will just have graphite sheets to manage and dissipate thermal heat.
Apple seems to be planning something big for the iPhone 17 Pro Max tech specs and features. This makes sense as currently, 40% of new model shipments belong to the Pro Max units, contributing to Apple's revenue and profit figures. But anyway, we are still two years away from that so let's just wait and see.
The upcoming Apple Event will go live on 9 September 2024 at 10 AM PT. If you want to catch the livestream, you can tune in at Apple.com, the Apple TV app or YouTube at 1 AM on 10 September 2024. Stay tuned for our official news coverage here.
