DxOMark is usually associated with ranking smartphone camera quality online, but for some reason, they came up with an Audio review for the Apple iPhone SE 2020 first instead of the camera. Despite that, they gave 70 points which is pretty good and this lands the iPhone SE 2020 in the top 5 in terms of audio.

According to DxOMark, the iPhone SE 2020 has a good balance and dynamics performance for the midrange and treble but not so much for the bass section. Still, the device didn't feel like breaking apart when they tried maximizing the volume and for some reason, the music app still has an inverted stereo during landscape orientation.

On top of that, they also noted the Recording feature on the device is quite excellent. It exceeded well in the area of timbre performance, microphone occlusions, signal-to-noise ratio, as well as (almost) absent artefacts even at high SPL. Although the feature is quite consistent, there is still a slight lack of low- and high-end extension, and the slow automatic gain control at high SPL.

With 70 points sitting at the 5th spot, the iPhone SE 2020 is just behind the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro Max (71 points), iPhone XS Max and OPPO Find X2 Pro and (74 points), Huawei Mate 20 X (75 points), and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (76 points).
