RapidKL is preparing to roll out a new feature in its PULSE mobile app that will allow users to purchase and activate the My50 monthly travel pass—priced at RM50—directly through the app.
The update is expected to go live in July 2025, giving commuters across Malaysia a more convenient way to manage their public transport needs.
This digital upgrade means no more queuing at counters or visiting physical kiosks just to activate the pass. Instead, everything—from purchase to activation—can soon be done from your phone.
What’s new?
- According to RapidKL’s official teaser, the upcoming feature will let users:
- Buy the RM50 My50 monthly pass in-app
- Activate the pass immediately from the app
- Skip the need for activation at station counters
Currently, while the My50 pass can be purchased online through the MyRapid Shop, users still need to visit a train station to activate it using their MyKad or MyRapid card. The PULSE app update aims to simplify this by offering full in-app functionality.
Why it’s a big deal
The My50 pass offers unlimited rides for 30 days on RapidKL services, including:
- MRT
- LRT
- KL Monorail
- BRT Sunway Line
- RapidKL buses
- MRT feeder buses
With full digital access on the PULSE app, this monthly pass becomes more accessible to daily commuters and tourists alike. This move is part of RapidKL's broader plan to digitalize public transport services and improve user experience—especially for those who prefer using smartphones to manage travel.
The update is also in line with previous enhancements to the PULSE app in early 2025, which included improved route planning, cleaner UI, and integration with travel rewards.
