The new Android 15 feature might allow you to use Dark Mode for all apps - Even if it’s not supported

If you are an avid Android user, this news might catch your attention. Recently, a new rumour says the Android 15 might allow you to “force” dark mode for all apps. That said, what should you know about it?

For our information, the “override force-dark” option is intended by Google as a “feature for developers to quickly implement a dark theme without explicitly setting a DayNight theme.” This feature could work by analysing “each view of your light-themed app and applying a dark theme automatically before it is drawn to the screen.” But, you might have to allow the apps to be “forced” into dark mode. Similarly, you can also opt out of the dark mode for some apps if you want to.

In addition, this feature might cause the apps in your system to malfunction or not function optimally. Enabling the colour inversion feature would invert all colours on your screen. As a result, this could mess with your photos or app icons. To manage this, you can go to Settings > Accessibility > Color and Motion.

Moreover, we have yet to see this feature in the latest Android 15 beta update. However, we could expect it to arrive in a future beta release. We have yet to confirm other details about it. Hopefully, Google could sort it out as soon as possible. After all, Malaysians just love dark mode.
