Apple’s iPad series has got to be one the company’s most diverse lineup, catering for a host of consumer categories from casual user to professionals. The entry-level iPad has always been touted as the best bang-for-your-buck tablet and soon, it may get even better with the potential addition of a faster processor, a USB-C port and 5G connectivity.

Shared by 9to5Mac, an insider information alleged that the upcoming entry-level iPad will be getting its most significant upgrade yet. Finally on its 10th iteration, the iPad may finally ditch the lightning port for a USB Type-C port, hence making the ports consistent across all the iPad lineup.

The information further revealed that the upcoming vanilla iPad, codenamed J272 will also get 5G connectivity support for its cellular models. Furthermore, the chipset will also be updated with the A14 Bionic mobile chip which is an upgrade from the current A13 Bionic on the 9th-generation iPad.

To keep costs low, Apple will keep the design of the iPad exactly the same, which it has been for years now. However, the display is touted to get a slight upgrade to either a 10.5-inch or 10.9-inch retina LCD panel.

Do take this information with a grain of salt though as nothing is confirmed as of yet. Nevertheless, if they turned out to be true and the price point stays the same, then the 10th-generation iPad will definitely be one of the best value-for-money tablets in the market.
