The Apple Watch was launched 10 years ago, and since then, it has only been compatible with an iPhone. Apple has received many requests to provide official support for Android, but to this day, it has not been heeded. This 10-year wait ends this year when the Vivo X Fold5 is launched.
Is Apple aiming for Android users?
For your information, the X Fold5 is Vivo's latest foldable smartphone and in a post on Weibo, the company showed it tethered to an Apple Watch Series 9. Owners can make phone calls, receive notifications and save health data directly to Vivo's health app.
This feature was provided on the X Fold5 because, according to Vivo, many iPhone users have moved to Android and, as a result, can no longer use the Apple Watch they previously owned.
More Android phones to do the same?
Vivo didn't say how the Apple Watch would work on Android, but we've seen the AirDrop feature between iOS and Android start to be included on Chinese-made devices. The Oppo Find N5 also has a unique feature that lets you remotely access your macOS computer directly from your phone's screen.
