There is a serious shortage of bread and this is what Gardenia said

As you might have read and heard from your friends and family, there is a shortage of stock here and there. Before we could get to day 7 of the Movement Restriction Order (MRO), Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd, released a statement over this matter and...it's not really good news per se. According to their official Facebook page, their factories have reached the maximum level and can no longer keep up with our hoarding ability.

Prior to the MRO, the company announced that they will continue to operate during this period since they fall under the food category. However, due to the overwhelming number of Malaysians grabbing God-knows-how-many loaves of bread from the shelves, this action eventually made the company respond to the situation of running out of bread.

In an indirect translation, the message reads:

"Peace be upon you and greetings,

Thank you for spending time writing to us about the situation of running out of Gardenia products in stores. We would like to inform that at the moment the production of bread in Gardenia factories have reached the maximum capacity. Therefore, we can no longer add the supply of our products in the market.

We also want to say thank you all for understanding and sorry for all the difficulties that have occurred."

Personally, we have also experienced a shortage of bread and usually you will only find the snack buns on the shelves. However, rumours have it that you can still find some loaves of bread in KK Mart, 99 Speedmart as well as GrabMart (early in the morning). It's worth checking them out if you're desperate for one.
