There might not be a new successor to the AirPods Max for the time being

When Apple announced the new AirPods (4th Gen), there was also the AirPods Max but only in new colour variants and a USB C port. So will there be an AirPods Max 2? According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, he said there are "no concrete plans" by Apple to update the headphones.

Not only that, he even added that the headphones probably aren't going to get any updates at all "in a meaningful way". Given that the latest AirPods Max update was the USB C and new colour variants, Gurman expects Apple to keep it that way "for the foreseeable future". This is a bit disappointing, considering the current model is still using an older H1 chip instead of the newer H2 chip.

Since the AirPods Max missed out on the H2 chip, that means the headphones still have no Adaptive Audio features and no Active Noise Cancellation. It was first released back in 2019 and costs RM2,499 in Malaysia. The price remains untouched on the Apple Malaysia store but customers can still get discounts on other third-party platforms.

Gurman also added that the AirPods Max might not get a new successor because the sales didn't go well. From a business operations perspective, it makes sense for Apple not to put in more resources to make a new one. So with that, don't put too much hope on a second-gen AirPods Max.
