The ChatGPT app for macOS has recently been updated with an exciting feature. It can now be used with a variety of installed third-party apps. This means that ChatGPT is no longer limited to within the app itself or through Siri and Apple Intelligence. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, with this new update, 12 applications are ready to be used with ChatGPT. It works by users selecting the application they want to use and ChatGPT will read the content on the screen to continue helping. Users are not limited to generating text, but ChatGPT can search or upload files. Interestingly, ChatGPT Advanced Voice allows users to chat while using other applications. Here is a list of supported applications;
- Apple Notes
- Notion
- TextEdit
- Quip
- Xcode
- VS Code (including Code, Code Insiders, VSCodium, Cursor, and Windsurf)
- JetBrains (including Android Studio, IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm, PHPStorm, CLion, Rider, RubyMine, AppCode, GoLand, DataGrip)
- TextEdit
- Terminal
- iTerm
- Warp
- Prompt
Currently, this feature is limited to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers only. There is no indication when it will be rolled out to free users. Hopefully, everything will be resolved soon.
