
EV charging is the most important thing in EV ownership and each strategic charging location can add distance to each EV’s journey to the final destination. Today Shell Recharge created history when it launched its High Performance EV charger at one of Malaysia’s highest locations, Resorts World Genting. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, the charger is located at an altitude of 1865m in front of the Highland Hotel has 10 charging bays with 4 of them being DC 360kW and the remaining 6 being AC 22kW. Using the ParkEasy application, You need to pay a charging reservation (Confirmation Fee) before starting charging and the parking space will be reserved for 10 minutes. For DC 360kW, the charging reservation fee is 10 credits (~RM10) and the charging rate is 2.80 credits per kWh while for AC 22kW, the charging reservation fee is 8 credits (~RM8) and will be charged at 1.80 credits (~RM1.80) per kWh.


In addition, the charging reservation rate for this location is different from other locations and will be waived if the EV owner is present to charge within the 10 minute period. this high-performance 360kW charger allows EVs that can accept the highest charging capacity such as the Porsche Taycan to charge from 10-80% in as fast as 18 minutes. Shell is also offering Porsche Taycan owners a free 3-year Platinum membership, offering a 50% discount on charging up to 180kW DC. In fact, owners will also be able to book a charging space at a rate of RM4 and receive a 10% cashback when using the AC charger.
Moreover, the launch of Shell Recharge’s first High Performance Charging Hub will give EV users more range to travel to the East Coast, also one of Malaysia’s most prestigious holiday destinations. There are now 160 Shell Recharge charging outlets across Malaysia, and they also support EV charging networks in Thailand and Singapore. Shell Recharge Perasing was launched last Hari Raya, and Shell Recharge in Paka will be announced soon.
