This is why Apple will never have a search engine like Google

Apple is ready to be involved in a court case against Google, which is said to be monopolising the search engine arena. In this regard, Apple has now shared why they do not plan to develop their search engine. So, what should you know about it?

According to court documents shared by Reuters via NewsByte, the following are some of the reasons Apple gave for not developing its search engine. These include:

  • The development of a search engine will cost a lot.
  • Investing in a search engine would require funds and employees that would need to be diverted from other development priorities, especially those more relevant to Apple.
  • The search engine arena itself is at high risk due to technological shifts and artificial intelligence.
  • Apple has no expertise in advertising, which is a major source of revenue for a search engine. Apple focuses on privacy, which may present more challenges in this arena to develop a high-revenue search engine.

In addition, Apple seems to be taking a more cautious approach by partnering with Google for this purpose. In fact, according to previous reports, Google is said to have paid Apple around $20 billion to include their search engine as the main search engine. With the high revenue guaranteed, it may be more efficient for Apple not to develop and wastefully invest in the development of its own search engine.
