Thousands were injured and 9 were reportedly killed when hundreds of pagers exploded simultaneously in Lebanon. All of the victims are believed to be members of Hezbollah with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad believed to be the mastermind behind this massive attack. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 2750 people were injured and 9 were killed when a body pager exploded. In a video shared to social media this morning, the pager can be seen ringing before exploding a few seconds later. It is believed that a small bomb is placed inside the pager and when it receives a certain message, the bomb is detonated.
Seen dozens of photos/videos of people in Lebanon with injuries to their legs — where pagers would have been in pocket — or hands/arms.

In addition, pagers are used by Hezbollah as a messaging device between members because they are more difficult to track than cellular phones. It still uses radio signals which makes tracking using cellular towers more difficult. In 1996, Yahya Ayyash a bomb maker for Hamas died when the cell phone he was using exploded believed to have been planted by Israel's Shin Bet security agency. This incident caused the use of cellular phones to be replaced by pagers.
Moreover, the Israelis have not yet confirmed they are responsible but Hezbollah has said they will retaliate due to this incident.
