Launched in July 2023, Threads quickly reached 100 million users within five days. By April 2025, it had already hit 350 million. In the last quarter alone, the platform attracted 50 million more users, reflecting sustained interest and adoption.

Closing the gap with X

Threads’ growth puts it closer to X (formerly Twitter), which is estimated to have around 600 million monthly active users.

On mobile, the gap is narrowing further—Threads recorded about 115 million daily active users in June 2025, a 128% year-over-year increase. In comparison, X saw 132 million daily active users, down from the previous year.

Meta’s push for engagement

Meta has steadily introduced updates to Threads to improve engagement, including better search, trending topics, and cross-platform integration with Instagram.

These improvements have helped maintain momentum as the platform aims to become a key player in real-time social conversations.
