Threads is reportedly testing an artificial intelligence (AI) feature that can generate summaries of user activity. These summaries will appear on profiles when visited, providing a brief overview of past activity history. So, what should you know about it?

A way to understand other users' backgrounds quickly

For your information, this feature will display brief information about the account owner, frequently shared content, and key interests that may be of interest. This way, other users can understand a person's background more quickly without having to sift through all of their posts one by one.

Moreover, X offers a similar feature through the 'More about this account' option for Premium users, where Grok's functionality is used to generate a profile summary. This summary makes it easier for users to assess whether they want to follow an account or not. Therefore, Threads' move is seen as a strategy to compete with its competitors while leveraging Meta's own AI technology.

While this feature clearly helps to streamline activities, there are also concerns that it could reduce the fun of manually viewing profiles. This is because AI summaries have the potential to condense a person's identity into a few brief details, making users less interested in following accounts that are not very active.
