In case you didn't know, the TikTok ban will take effect in early January 2025 before newly elected President Trump returns to office. In an effort to save TikTok, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is set to meet up with Trump.

Although it was not confirmed by either party, this news came to light after a few hours when TikTok also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to halt the ban temporarily. Sources told CNN that the pre-scheduled meeting between Trump and TikTok CEO will be for the first time, taking place at the former's Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

Besides TikTok CEO, other important tech figures such as Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos have already met up with Trump at his resort. Trump recently said in an interview that without TikTok, Facebook can be bigger and he considers "Facebook to be an enemy of the people".

Should TikTok fail to reverse the ban on 19 January 2025, the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and internet services could be punished with a big fine for allowing TikTok to be downloaded. Ironically, Trump and his administration many years ago were the first ones to purge TikTok for allegedly spying. But Trump now has a "warm spot in his heart for TikTok".

In TikTok's appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, the company asked for the right to free speech. The ban could also affect over 170 million Americans' small businesses on TikTok, as high as $1 billion in revenue and creators to "suffer almost $300 million in lost earnings" in just a month unless the ban is halted.
