TikTok says it's to protect the margins for sellers
Starting 20 June 2026, among the categories that will have reduced commission charges are medical, nose and mouth care, milk and dairy, fast food, and breastfeeding and nutrition. That means we are seeing the commission fees being reduced from 9.18% to 2.16%. That’s quite a significant change.

Moreover, TikTok stated that by reducing these commission fees, it is expected to continue to protect margins for sellers, while at the same time ensuring the continuity of shopkeeper operations and offering competitive prices. Plus, TikTok Shop maintains a 0% commission fee rate for product categories under Baking, Frozen Foods, Staples and Cooking Essentials.
Are we going to see a more competitive market in Malaysia?
