Last night, the press conference for TikTok Awards Malaysia took place at the Go Down venue in Kuala Lumpur. This event introduced the nominees for their respective categories and hosts for the main event on 27 August 2023. That said, these are the things you should know about the inaugural TikTok Awards.
From education to food recipes, reviews to beauty tutorials. Local content creators have created their followings and carved their niche’ in recent years. As a result, it is common to see their content on the FYP (For You Page) now. Yin Yin Hooi, Head of Marketing and Operations for TikTok Malaysia said:
“We are thrilled to bring Malaysians the highly anticipated TikTok Awards! This stellar event will commemorate the outstanding achievements and monumental efforts of our creators who are the backbone of the platform. As THE creator event of the year, we are delighted to receive keen participation from brands on- and offline as this will contribute to the awards becoming a springboard for creators to gain more exposure to work with some of the biggest brands in town.”
She also mentioned that the theme "Big on the Small Screen" demonstrates the endless possibilities for local creators to amplify and bring their success to the big stage this 27 August 2023. Interestingly, you can meet your favourite TikToker or content creator through TikTok Awards: INSPIRE. The meet and greet session will happen on 26 August 2023 at Sunway Pyramid, LG2 Orange Concourse from 2.30 PM to 4.30 PM. The list of celebrities includes Khairul Aming, Yuki, and Alexhkf.
In addition, public voting for seven categories is open now. Those categories are Creator of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, Popular Creator of the Year, Popular Animation Account of the Year, Celebrity of the Year, Live Creator of the Year and TikTok Shop Creator of the Year. Voting begins on 15 August 2023, 10:00 PM until 26th August 2023, 11:59 PM. If you want to vote for your favourite content creator, you can do it here.
The hosts for the TikTok Awards Malaysia features a solid lineup of Izzue Islam, Sherry Alhadad and Amelia Henderson, while the Red-Carpet event will be hosted by Ceddy and Sissy Imann. Backstage moments, on the other hand, will be hosted by Jaa Suzuran and Neeta Manis.
