TikTok is probably one of the most addictive apps in this generation. Providing short videos curated by a genius algorithm to match your taste, who doesn't love it? However, there must be times when you tell yourself to get off the platform, but your hands just don't follow your mind. Therefore, TikTok has added some new features to help with that problem.

The app will now have a setting that allows you to set a time limit for how long you scroll. Once the time is up, it will show a reminder to ask you to take a break. Teenage users between the age of 13 and 17 will be asked to use the screen time limiting tool if spending over 100 minutes in the app in a single day. It's worth mentiong that TikTok already launched a similar function previously, but it's set based on daily limit instead.

Besides that, the platform has also introduced a new screen time dashboard that shows a summary of app usage. Statistics include the amount of time the app has been opened, a breakdown of daytime and nighttime usage, and an overall counter for the amount of time spent in the app daily will get displayed to users. Not only TikTok, but many other social media apps like Instagram and Netflix also provide similar functions to reduce users' screen time.
