TikTok has introduced a dedicated app for micro dramas, named PineDrama. However, this app is currently only offered in limited quantities for the American and Brazilian markets. So, what should you know about it?
Are we seeing a new trend in how content is consumed?
For your information, through PineDrama, users can easily follow various micro dramas, without any fees or advertisements for now. As usual, micro dramas are a combination of almost a hundred episodes, each lasting one minute.
Previously, many people were willing to publish micro-drama content on TikTok itself; now, with a dedicated app, it provides a destination to easily follow various fictional dramas. For TikTok itself, they often experiment with various things, including several apps before, and have also started publishing fictional novels and stopped them after a while.
Moreover, it is unknown whether PineDrama will be expanded globally or just another experiment by TikTok. Apart from PineDrama, there are several other companies that are also focusing on this arena, including DramaBox, which was recently reported to be valued at around USD500 million (~RM2.03 billion). In Malaysia itself, there is a specific platform called DoDrama, in addition to Sooka, which focuses on this niche.
