The world’s most popular video platform, TikTok is currently testing out a new feature on its app that introduces another feed for users to browse content on. Called ‘Nearby’, the feed will (as the name would suggest) show content that’s trending near the user and promote local creators.
As reported by TechCrunch, the feature has been confirmed by TikTok and the platform further elaborated that it is currently being tested with a small group of users in Southeast Asia. The Nearby feed is meant to help users find videos that are more relevant to them as well as help users find interesting events and places near them.

If TikTok decides to roll out the feature to all users, it would mean that the app would have 3 separate feeds. Currently, there are two feeds available for users on the home page, ‘For You’ which shows a mix of suggestions and content from accounts users follow and ‘Following’, which focuses on videos from your friends.
Do note that as TikTok is merely testing the feature as of right now, it may not be official on the app any time soon, or if it will be rolled out at all. It all depends on whether the platform is satisfied with the results of the testing period.
