Other platforms want to be TikTok, but TikTok also wants to copy other platforms. That's probably just the nature of businesses, so seeing TikTok testing out adopted features isn't unusual. Having said that, what do you think of longer TikTok videos?
According to Matt Navarra, TikTok is testing 60-minute video uploads. The company has also confirmed (via TechCrunch) it has invited a group of users to test this feature. This would allow TikTok to compete with YouTube, which many consider their preferred long-form video platform. However, TikTok doesn't have any immediate plans to release this feature.
So, why is TikTok trying to be like YouTube? After all, the platform's users are there for the short-form videos because they don't have the patience for longer videos. But TikTok says that some creators want more time for certain content like cooking demos, educational lessons, and more. Typically, most creators would create multiple videos as a series for such content. But they can avoid that if longer videos were possible. Longer videos could also help lure YouTube creators over to TikTok.
