If you are a frequent user of TikTok, this news might surprise you. According to a Social Media Expert, Matt Navarra, TikTok could extend the maximum length of videos that you can upload on the platform. That said, what should you know about it?

In case you don’t know, the maximum length of video on TikTok is 10 minutes. However, that might change very soon. Perhaps this is the Chinese company’s tactic to compete with YouTube. Matt Navarra shared about this rumour on Threads when a notification on his account reads:

“Upload videos up to 15 minutes long! Make sure your app is up to date, then try uploading from your app or desktop on tiktok.com.”

Moreover, you might notice the app works a bit like YouTube these days. Recently, you can users can now fast-forward a video by holding your finger down on the right-hand side of the screen, or by moving the cursor on the video's progress bar. If everything goes smoothly, TikTok might replace YouTube as the most popular and primary source of video-sharing platform.

Besides that, TikTok also rewards you with better incentives for posting longer videos on its platform. On the other hand, YouTube Shorts is a major success. This feature allows you to monetise a broader range of topics, including certain sensitive subjects.

We have yet to confirm how the format change could benefit Malaysians. However, we can expect a few bright minds in this country to take advantage of it. After all, Malaysia Boleh.
