World’s most popular video platform, TikTok today announced a new feature which allows for its top creators to charge subscription fees to viewers. Called LIVE Subscription, the new feature will be introduced this week.

According to a statement by TikTok, the feature will enable creators to switch into a chat mode exclusive to their subscribers. As reported by AFP via france24, the company said that LIVE Subscription will enhance an even more personal connection between creator and viewer.

Perks of being a subscriber include digital badges and, in some cases, the ability to control camera angles during streamed sessions. This is based on the video clips posts by TikTok creators invited to take part in the programme.

TikTok also stressed that the new subscription feature is an extension to its efforts to build diversified creator monetisation opportunities that suit a range of creator needs. For now, the feature will only be available to creators by invitation before expanding globally in the coming months.

The company also puts a requirement for creators to be at least 18 years old to access the feature. Moreover, the same requirement applies for viewers that want to subscribe to their favourite creators.

What do you guys think of this new feature by TikTok? Would you want to pay a subscription fee to chat exclusively with your favourite creators during TikTok livestream?
