Will Tim Cook step down as the CEO of Apple? That's not easy to answer unless if Cook gives an official statement. However, he could be planning to stay around for a long time until there is "one more major new product category" by Apple.

Well, more like taken from the words of Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. In his Power On newsletter, he says that there is a belief going on in the aforementioned statement. You can read the full excerpt below:

"But there are signs that’s not likely. The belief inside Apple is that Cook just wants to stick around for one more major new product category, which is likely to be augmented reality glasses rather than a car — something that’s even further out. He also understands that running a Silicon Valley company is typically a young person’s game, and he’s not going to stay far beyond his prime."

Speaking of a major new product category, we have written some rumoured news about the AR glass and Apple Car before. At the moment, there isn't much news going on and it's safe to say that there's still a long way to go when the day comes. Gurman thinks we could see a new mixed reality headset in 2022, as well as predicting Cook retiring between 2025 and 2028 due to a payment deal in 2025.

On top of that, there was a report by Bloomberg that Apple has been putting effort into "succession planning". It may have started last year which the company was looking into cultivating the "next class of top managers". Cook has also been the Apple CEO for more than 10 years already since Steve Jobs' passing.
