AI seems to be the trending feature for smartphones this year. We have already talked about it on our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and ROG Phone 8 reviews, and what about Apple? According to Tim Cook, you can expect the company's generative AI features are coming later this year.

In case you missed it, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg tipped that the next iOS 18 could be the "biggest" software update. This is in line with Tim Cook's statement, as he mentioned that Apple is indeed working on generative AI software features during a recent quarterly meeting. Tim Cook mentioned "generative AI" several times but nothing about its functionalities.

Below is an official excerpt from Tim Cook about the next-gen iOS:

“As we look ahead, we will continue to invest in these and other technologies that will shape the future. That includes artificial intelligence, where we continue to spend a tremendous amount of time and effort, and we’re excited to share the details of our ongoing work in that space later this year,” said Cook

Of course, Tim Cook didn't talk more about it as he didn't want to "get out in front of ourselves". But be rest assured - Apple has some things that they are "incredibly excited about" and we will get to know about it later this year.
