Tinder’s trying something new—and it’s all about not dating alone. The app just launched a Double Date feature in the U.S, with plans to bring it to other countries soon.
Instead of flying solo, you and a friend (or up to three friends) can team up and match with another pair or group. It’s kind of like making dating a group activity—because why not bring a buddy along for the ride?
How it works
- You form a group with your friends—up to four people total.
- Tinder shows your group to other friend groups.
- If someone on each side swipes right, you’re matched.
- You’ll get a group chat where everyone can talk and see where it goes.
What’s the point?
The idea is to take some of the pressure off meeting new people. Group dates can be more relaxed, especially if you're not big on one-on-one meetups. Plus, younger users (hello Gen Z) tend to like social-first features that feel more interactive and less formal.
This also fits in with a bunch of other changes Tinder has been rolling out—like features for planning hangouts and letting friends suggest matches.
Where it’s headed
The feature has already been tested in parts of Europe. Now that it's live in the U.S., Tinder says more countries will get it starting July 2025.
