Popular dating app Tinder as well as other similar apps from its parent company Match Group may be removed from the Google Play Store following the latest development on the two parties’ legal battle. It all started earlier this year when Match Group sued Google for requiring all Android developers to process ‘digital goods services’ payments through the Play Store billing system.

As reported by engadget, both parties seem to have reached a temporary agreement in May 2022. It was agreed for Google to allow Match Group’s apps to remain on the Play Store and use its own payment system while making. a ‘good faith’ effort to address their billing concerns. As for Match Group, it was agreed for the company to make an effort to offer Google’s billing system as an alternative.

Fast forward to July 2022, Google now claims that Match Group wants to pay ‘nothing at all’ to the tech giant, including the 15 to 30 percent Play Store fees. Hence, Google has filed a countersuit against Match to seek monetary damages a judgment to allow them to kick Match Group’s apps out of the Play Store.
