TnG eWallet to charge a 1% fee for all credit card reloads above RM1000/month starting November

Touch ’n Go (TnG) eWallet has revealed new changes to how it treats reloads using credit cards, whereby customers will be charged a 1% admin fee for all manual reloads above RM1000 starting this November. Furthermore, it will also remove the current option to either make a credit card reload transferable or non-transferable.

In its updated terms and conditions page, TnG eWallet clarified that beginning 1 November 2023, all manual credit card reloads will be treated as transferable. Currently, users have the option to reload up to RM1000 a month via credit cards that are transferable without a fee. Any reloads via credit card after the amount will be charged a 1% fee if you wish to make it transferable.

Conversely, you can also reload via credit card without a fee if you choose to make the balance non-transferable. If you’re getting confused, don’t worry as these distinctions will be obsolete next month as all manual credit card reloads are transferable, though at the cost of a 1% admin fee after you've passed the RM1000 threshold.

Speaking of which, the new terms and conditions also revealed that you can convert reload PIN top-ups from non-transferable to transferable eWallet balance by paying the same 1% admin fee. However, such conversion is only limited to “certain circumstances, as may be determined by TNG Digital”, likely to be a measure against scam or money laundering activities.
