Today, Touch ‘n Go Sdn. Bhd. and PROTON have officially teamed up to integrate Touch ‘n Go’s RFID technology directly into the all-new Proton X50. The partnership, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marks the first PROTON model to roll off the production line with the tech built in.  

 

X50 RFID Ready

Under the agreement, every Proton X50 will come pre-fitted with a Touch ‘n Go RFID tag during production, giving drivers instant access to Malaysia’s RFID-enabled highway network right from day one, without the need for extra installation.

A Feature That Fits the X50’s ‘Intelligence That Amazes’ Tagline

The new Proton X50launched on 24 Julyhas already seen strong demand, with 2000 units delivered in just three weeks. Alongside its refreshed exterior, upgraded interior, and a powerful 1.5L i-GT turbocharged engine, the built-in RFID tag adds an extra layer of convenience for tech-savvy drivers.

Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of Proton Edar, noted, “The X50 has been our SUV star performer, with over 140,000 units produced since launch. By adding Touch ‘n Go RFID, we’re enhancing value without increasing prices, perfectly aligning with our promise of ‘Intelligence That Amazes.’”

 

Looking Beyond the X50

The partnership may not stop here. PROTON is already considering expanding the RFID integration to other models in its lineup, giving more customers the same seamless driving experience.
