In regards to the recent news of additional charges for merchants via DuitNow QR, Touch 'n Go (TNG) Digital just announced that those will be waived. That's good news to many users who are reliant on the ewallet platform but it's only for now until further notice.
So how long will the company keep it that way? There's no timeline for when the additional charges will be implemented. But when it does, TNG stated that additional charges are needed to accommodate the costs and investments of its payment systems. This includes cybersecurity and fraud prevention controls.
At the moment, Maybank, Public Bank, and CIMB are waiving the additional charges until further notice. However, CIMB will only do so until the end of the year. PayNet also made an official statement that its MDR for DuitNow QR Payments will start from 1 October 2023. You can read more about it right here.
