Truecaller working with WhatsApp to tackle scam calls and messages

From time to time, we would get scam messages and calls on our phones. While you could always install the Truecaller app, it doesn't work for WhatsApp which scammers tend to use nowadays. However, that could change in the future.

Truecaller will be collaborating with WhatsApp as well as other messaging apps to check for potential spam calls. The company said its caller identification service will be made available in May this month, and it's currently in beta. According to Truecaller Chief Executive Alan Mamedi, telemarketing and scam calls have risen in many countries like India.

WhatsApp scam calls in Malaysia are also, unfortunately, common. At the moment, all we can do is just ignore the message and calls, and blacklist them. Truecaller intends to use spam detection technology and take action on suspicious accounts. Users may block and report them as well.

Also, we would like to remind everyone that no official company or organisation will contact you via WhatsApp with a casual phone number unless stated otherwise on their official platform. On top of that, no official authority will ever want to know what is your OTP so never give it out. Be vigilant, stay safe, and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
