Joining other roaming pocket wifi service providers is Tune Talk Pocket WiFi, which offers 4G LTE Internet for up to 8 devices in over 140 countries. Starting from RM8 per day for Japan, Taiwan and Korea, it is strangely enough RM12 per day for next door Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia while North America and the Middle East can start from RM28 per day.
Available via the website and Tune Talk app, the pocket WiFi device itself offers up to 12 hours of battery life. Like other pocket WiFi service providers it will offer "unlimited data" but there are certain daily data usage quotas of 1GB, 5GB and 10GB. Once reached, speeds will be throttled down to 512Kbps but it will reload automatically the next day.
You will need to register at the site or app to rent or book the pocket WiFi device but you can choose to pick it up at KLIA 1 or 2 (also Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Penang International Airport in the future maybe). Compared to other pocket WiFi service providers, Tune Talk Pocket WiFi might be better for 1 or 2 day trips for a group or family going to Japan, Taiwan or Korea, but for extended stays elsewhere it could get a bit pricey.
We expect other major telcos may soon follow in their footsteps though. What do you think? Would you give Tune Talk Pocket WiFi a try on your next group trip? Share your experiences in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
