Twitter might have brought end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for direct messages (DMs) back to life. The company had worked on the feature in 2018, but it never gets to see the light. Until now, Jane Manchun Wong, a tech blogger who likes to dig up unreleased features of various apps, claims that the social media company is bringing it back.

Wong spotted the codes that have something to do with E2EE for DMs. After sharing it on Twitter, it has attracted the current CEO, Elon Musk, to leave a winking emoji on the tweet. Therefore, the feature could be coming back for real. Not only that, but Musk had also stated that Twitter should offer E2EE like Signal back in April, which directly suggests that he's very supportive of reviving the development of the security feature.

"No one can spy on or hack your messages," said Elon Musk.

Since the takeover, Musk has a lot of interesting plans for the platform. However, the most recent one might have gone wrong with the Twitter Blue fiasco. As a result, the subscription has gotten taken offline. Therefore, can Musk rescue the platform's reputation with the changes he's making? We'll see.
