Twitter feed now defaults to a 'For You' page just like TikTok

Twitter has undergone a slew of changes since being acquired by Elon Musk, many of which incurred backlash from the social media platform’s users. Well, the company is implementing yet another change, this time in regard to the default functionality of its feed, which will now function similarly to TikTok

The change, which is rolling out to iOS users first, Twitter is removing the star button at the top right of the app that allows users to switch between two feeds. Instead, users now have two tabs in their place, ‘For You’ and ‘Following’, with the former being the default ie the first thing users see when they launch the app.

As reported by The Verge, the For You tab shares the same name and functions similarly to TikTok’s algorithmically-driven feed. Basically, the feed would show tweets from people you follow interspersed with tweets that the platform thinks you may like.

Of course, you can still switch to see only tweets from the people you follow in reverse-chronological order by switching on the Following tab. However, currently, there is no way to set the Following tab as the default feed when opening the Twitter app.
