After a long and complicated saga, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk has finally completed the takeover of popular social media platform Twitter. The deal costs USD44 billion or ~RM207 billion and also saw the platform’s top executives leave the company.

As reported by the BBC, the takeover was confirmed by Twitter investor Ross Gerber who said that the court saga between the company and Musk eventually pushed the latter to complete the deal. Previously, Twitter took Musk to court to hold him to the terms of the takeover deal that he had tried to escape.

There was a public spat between both parties during the initial stages of the takeover which saw Musk pulling out of the deal. However, things have now changed and the Tesla CEO has gone through with the ~RM207 billion and become the owner of Twitter.

With the completion of the takeover, Twitter’s chief executive officer Parag Agrawal and chief financial officer Ned Segal have left the company with immediate impact. Moreover, the company’s top legal and policy executive Vijaya Gadde has also reportedly left Twitter. It is not known whether this is part of the takeover deal.

The completion of this takeover comes as no surprise as Musk was seen earlier this week walking into Twitter’s headquarters and even changed his Twitter profile to read “Chief Twit”. Some major changes are expected to happen at Twitter now that Musk is in charge, which would definitely be intriguing to see.
