Twitter today announced the launch of #ThereIsHelp, a notification service for disaster preparedness in Malaysia. The initiative is part of the platform’s continuous efforts to help surface timely and authoritative information and connect people with reliable sources of support during times of emergency and crisis.

In a statement today, Twitter said that the initiative is made in collaboration with Mercy Malaysia and the Malaysian National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA Malaysia). Now, when people search for keywords associated with natural disasters in our country, the top search result will now include a notification in Bahasa Malaysia encouraging them to click through to credible information and support provided by Mercy Malaysia and NADMA Malaysia.

Twitter further elaborated that the service is now available on the Twitter iOS and Android apps, as well as on the web. Twitter’s Head of Public Policy and Philanthropy in Southeast Asia, Monrawee Ampolpittayanant said that the initiative is meant to serve as a means to help the Malaysian public, as well as government and non-government stakeholders navigate the extreme weather that the monsoon season brings.

In case you didn’t know, Twitter's #ThereIsHelp notification service has launched over 300 #ThereIsHelp prompts with 41 languages available in 106 markets around the world on a wide range of issues.
