Twitter is revamping the design of its platform by rolling out brand-new icons throughout its iOS and Android apps, as well as on the web. Announced via its official Twitter Design account today, Twitter said that the goal of the new look is to create a cohesive set of icons that are bold in shape and style.

The new icon design can be viewed in the tweet here and Twitter said that it will be rolling out to users “over the coming days”. This is according to a report by The Verge, whereby Twitter spokesperson Shaokyi Amdo confirmed the matter to the publication via email.

Though it is quite similar to the current icons design, the new look has more thicker lines and is a bit more angular. Twitter elaborated that it also wants the new look to be relatable and a little cheeky where possible.

Personally, I think that the new icons look a bit weird, though I might change my tunes when I get used to them. Well, a design change is always good, as it will prevent the platform from becoming stale over time.
