U Mobile has officially launched its next-generation 5G network—branded as ULTRA5G—marking a major milestone in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure evolution. Designed with professional use in mind, ULTRA5G promises ultra-reliable connectivity, enhanced indoor coverage, and enterprise-grade performance powered by the latest 5G Standalone (SA) architecture.

Built for Business, Engineered for Experience

Unlike conventional 5G setups, ULTRA5G leverages advanced technologies like network slicing, enabling tailored bandwidth and latency for different use cases—from immersive mixed reality and 4K live streaming to smart city automation and industrial robotics. This makes it ideal for sectors demanding precision, speed, and stability.

U Mobile’s Chief Technology Officer, Woon Ooi Yuen, emphasised that ULTRA5G is more than just faster internet—it’s a digital transformation enabler for both consumers and businesses. Whether it’s high-quality video calls in crowded areas or seamless gaming and streaming, ULTRA5G is built to deliver.

First Stop: Berjaya Times Square

The rollout begins at Berjaya Times Square, now Malaysia’s first fully 5G-enabled shopping mall. Coverage spans every floor—including the basement carpark—allowing U Mobile users to experience uninterrupted ULTRA5G connectivity. The network is also live on Penang Bridge 1, with plans to expand to over 175 buildings within the next year, and 600 buildings over four years.

Powered by Huawei and ZTE

To accelerate deployment, U Mobile has partnered with Huawei and ZTE—with Huawei handling West Malaysia and ZTE covering East Malaysia. This strategic collaboration ensures rapid rollout and future-proof infrastructure, positioning ULTRA5G as a serious contender in Malaysia’s dual-network 5G landscape.

What’s Next?

U Mobile aims to achieve 80% 5G population coverage by H2 2026, with a strong focus on indoor connectivity across airports, hospitals, convention centres, and other high-impact zones. Users connected to ULTRA5G will see the network name reflected on their devices, signalling access to Malaysia’s newest 5G experience.
