As U Mobile continues to expand its ULTRA5G connectivity, the company recently outlined plans to play a role in Malaysia’s digitalisation journey through its newly announced Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP). The initiative is designed as a neutral and agnostic environment that allows enterprises, SMEs, startups, academia, and public sector agencies to develop, test, and commercialise 5G-Advanced and AI use cases.

Neutral Innovation Environment

U Mobile describes the EIP as a non-exclusive platform that can be accessed even by organisations that are not existing customers. The company says the goal is to remove barriers to innovation by providing shared infrastructure, expertise, and tools that allow participants to validate proof of concepts and pilot projects before scaling.

By positioning the EIP as a neutral environment, U Mobile aims to encourage cross-industry collaboration while accelerating enterprise adoption of advanced connectivity and AI technologies. The platform is built around a Develop, Test, and Demonstrate framework, with a physical EIP Hub and sandbox scheduled to launch in July 2026 to support real-world experimentation and deployment.

The Platform’s Foundation

To support the EIP ecosystem, U Mobile has introduced its first eight partners, divided into Anchor Partners and Technology Partners. Anchor Partners provides the foundational technologies that underpin the EIP Hub and sandbox environment. These include Amazon Web Services, Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks, and Qualcomm. Their contributions span cloud infrastructure, 5G-Advanced platforms, AI enablement, and cybersecurity capabilities required for enterprise-grade innovation.

Technology Partner Contributions

Complementing the anchor firms are Technology Partners that bring applied tools and vertical expertise to the platform. These partners include Braintree Technologies, China Mobile International, Meraque Group, and ZTE Malaysia. Their involvement is intended to support validation of 5G-A and AI use cases across sectors such as agriculture, robotics, autonomous systems, and industrial IoT, with a focus on real-world deployment conditions.

EIP Hub to Offer Full-Scale Innovation Sandbox

The upcoming EIP Hub will feature an integrated innovation sandbox equipped with 5G-Advanced connectivity, cloud and edge access, IoT device laboratories, private network zones, and live demonstration areas. U Mobile says the facility will also provide tools such as network slicing simulators, digital twin environments, and AR and VR toolkits. These capabilities are intended to ensure solutions developed within the platform are tested under realistic conditions and are ready for commercial deployment.

Supporting National Digital and AI Ambitions

U Mobile Chief Technology Officer Woon Ooi Yuen said the Enterprise Innovation Platform reflects the company’s long-standing focus on innovation and its role as Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider. He emphasised that while the EIP Hub will be powered by next-generation 5G infrastructure and U Mobile’s ULTRA5G connectivity, its neutral design is meant to benefit the wider ecosystem.

According to U Mobile, the initial group of partners marks only the beginning, with the platform expected to expand as innovation needs evolve. The company believes the EIP will play a meaningful role in supporting Malaysia’s digital and AI ambitions under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan.
