Today, U Mobile has signed a three-year 5G wholesale agreement with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), marking a significant development in Malaysia’s evolving dual-network 5G landscape. The appointment follows a structured evaluation process, underscoring U Mobile’s technical expertise, service capabilities and ongoing nationwide 5G rollout. The company is targeting 80% Coverage of Population (COPA) by the second half of 2026, with deployment said to be progressing ahead of schedule.

End-to-End 5G MOCN Services for TM

Under the agreement, U Mobile will provide end-to-end 5G Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) services. These include comprehensive provisioning, seamless system integration, activation, rigorous testing and continuous optimisation. The arrangement enables TM to deliver scalable, secure and high-quality 5G connectivity across its consumer, SME and enterprise segments, strengthening its mobile competitiveness strategy.

Leadership Highlights Dual-Network Benefits

U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck described the award as validation of the company’s next-generation 5G capabilities, citing performance reliability, robust security and enhanced customer experience as key strengths. He added that the agreement reflects the value of healthy infrastructure competition under the government’s dual 5G network framework, which aims to foster innovation and build a more resilient telecommunications ecosystem.

TM Terminates DNB Wholesale Arrangement

In a parallel announcement, TM confirmed it will transition to the new 5G MOCN arrangement with U Mobile as part of its broader convergence ambitions. The company has exercised its contractual rights to terminate its existing 5G wholesale access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), in accordance with agreement terms and subject to regulatory processes. While acknowledging DNB’s pioneering role in accelerating Malaysia’s nationwide 5G rollout, TM said the transition will be carefully planned to ensure no disruption to customer experience.

Supporting TM’s Digital Powerhouse Ambition

Mobile services remain a critical pillar of TM’s convergence strategy, integrating fixed, mobile, content and smart services across segments. The move aligns with TM’s long-term aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, delivering resilient, competitive and future-ready digital solutions for Malaysia’s economy.
