Recently, the United States Air Force (USAF) banned the use of smart glasses and Bluetooth devices by personnel on duty. That said, what should you know about it?

Confidential data could be compromised in action

For your information, the use of smart glasses that can record photos, videos and have artificial intelligence (AI) is prohibited because they do not want operational secrets to be revealed. The videos or photos recorded may be hacked and accessed by the enemy.

Meanwhile, the use of Bluetooth headphones and earphones is only allowed after receiving official permission. This may be closely related to reports that millions of Bluetooth accessories that support Google Fast Pair have a vulnerability that allows the microphone to be accessed unknowingly for spying purposes.

Additionally, the US military has already banned the use of DJI drones and GPS watches that reveal the location of markers in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, in Israel, soldiers are banned from using Android devices because the system is said not to be as good as the iPhone. However, AR glasses and headsets for military use are being developed by Anduril in collaboration with Meta.
