Based on a statement by gizmochina, it seems that the US will once again be allowed to supply chips to China, provided that the components are not being used for 5G. Furthermore, it seems that more than 300 companies including major names like Samsung, Qualcomm, and MediaTek had applied for a license in order to do business with Huawei.

With all that said, there could be a possibility that Huawei could release a 5G smartphone that comes with completely different components as compared to variants without 5G. However, do take every bit of information with a grain of salt, due to the fact that Huawei has yet to provide an official statement on the leak.
