MILDEF International Technologies Sdn Bhd (MILDEF) has made history with the inauguration of the RM2 billion Armoured Vehicle Manufacturing Factory in Sendayan Techvalley, Negeri Sembilan. So, what should you know about it?
A strategic partnership to improve the country's security
For your information, this event was officiated by the Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This high-tech factory is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026 and will make Negeri Sembilan a major hub for the country's defence industry, reducing dependence on imports.
Moreover, the same ceremony also witnessed the signing of an MoU between MILDEF, UTM and UPNM. MILDEF, in its statement, said that the collaboration with UTM will focus on technical development, industrial training, research and development (R&D) of defence technology.
This partnership will also emphasise the development of industry-oriented academic programmes, professional certification programmes and A-TVET, in addition to strengthening industry involvement through long-term strategic networking.
But that is not all
Meanwhile, the collaboration with UPNM is military-based, with a focus on defence research, the development of the Malaysian Military Standard (MIL-STD-MY), the development of defence human capital, and the establishment of the MILDEF–UPNM Joint Research Centre as a national defence innovation hub.
The Prime Minister stressed that this success proves the ability of local companies to lead the defence industry and the importance of collaboration between the government, industry and academia.
MILDEF Managing Director, Dato' Sri Mohd Nizam bin Kasa, described this factory as a symbol of the fighting spirit of local people.
With this inauguration, MILDEF strengthens its role as a local defence leader, as well as enhancing Malaysia's position in the regional defence arena.
