Good news to all Grabbers and Uber, because E-Hailing services has just been officially legalized in Malaysia! Yes that’s right, Grab and Uber is now totally legit in both Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
The relevant transportation authorities including the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (CVLB) will be the ones regulating the E-Hailing services to conform to the amendments made by the Land Public Transport Act 2010 and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 which were passed in our very own Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.
Among the amendments made are the protection of all e-hailing services from any form of assault, hindrance and obstruction. Any offence may be punishable with a giant fine of up to RM1000, imprisonment not exceeding three months or both.
Isn't that great?! Now everybody can Grab or Uber with total ease. Happy travelling everyone!
