Based on a statement androidauthority, it seems that a bunch of users reported that all the data in their OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro have been fully wiped out after receiving an update for the Oxygen OS 11 open beta 3. Unfortunately, there is no official information in regards to what’s causing the data to be erased after updating, OnePlus’ staff mentioned on the forum to refrain from updating their smartphone until the problem has been rectified.
With that being said, if you were to accidentally installed the new update but have not restarted your phone, OnePlus recommends users to download and run an APK which allows you to keep your data before restarting. As of now, OnePlus is currently working on a fix for the issue, so if you’re keen on updating your OnePlus 8 series smartphone, you might want to stay tuned for that.
