A new open-world adventure game based on Malaysia’s iconic animated twins, Upin & Ipin Universe, will launch on 17 July 2025. The game will be available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Pricing has yet to be announced.

What is Upin & Ipin about?

Developed by Les’ Copaque Production in collaboration with Streamline Studios, Upin & Ipin Universe brings to life the fictional village of Kampung Durian Runtuh in an immersive open-world experience.

The game offers over 12 hours of story content, alongside exploration, mini-games, and cultural activities inspired by Malaysian village life.

The game was officially revealed during the Southeast Asia Summer Showcase, where the first trailer highlighted its colourful visuals, daily life mechanics, and local charm.

Upin & Ipin Universe aims to deliver a culturally rich experience for fans of the long-running series, while also appealing to new players through nostalgic gameplay and co-op features.

First PlayStation game to feature Bahasa Malaysia?

The title supports single-player and local split-screen co-op, allowing players to control both Upin and Ipin or team up with a friend. It will include full voice acting in Bahasa Malaysia and English, with subtitle support.

On PC, players can adjust graphical settings such as resolution, frame rate, texture quality, and shadows, making the game accessible across a range of hardware.

During the launch event on 4 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, described the game as a major achievement for the local creative industry.

The title is part of Les’ Copaque’s 20th anniversary celebrations and contributes to Malaysia’s growing RM5.3 billion digital creative sector.
