VHS video tapes or cassete tapes were the media used to record and playback video way back before VCDs, DVDs, Bluray discs and streaming made their way to our living rooms. Their death note was officially signed when Funai, the only manufacturer of VCR players said that they will stop making them due to lack of parts and a shrinking market.
More surprising than that news was that Funai sold 750000 VCR players last year in 2015, proving that there are more VHS users than previously thought. We expect existing VCR player stock to remain but become a lot more pricy as demand increases amongst those with old VHS tape collections. All we can say is, if you haven't considered converting to digital video, now is probably a good time to start.
