Vanced app for YouTube Android is shutting down because of Google

If you are an avid YouTube binge-watcher, you may be disappointed to hear the news of Vanced YouTube app will be shutting down very soon. The discontinuation is due to a legal notice by Google and with this, download links will be removed as well on Android.

For the uninitiated, Vanced is a third-party app on Android that allows users to block every video advertisement on YouTube without having a Premium membership. Vanced also offers a black theme skin and other customisations that aren't in the official YouTube Android app.

To those who still have Vanced on their Android phone, they would still be able to use it until the app becomes outdated in two years or so. This was confirmed in Vanced's Twitter account, as well as saying they were asked to remove all references to YouTube including changing the logo and removing links related to YouTube.

Just last year, Google also demanded two popular Discord music bots, Rythm and Groovy to shut down. This was before test ad-supported YouTube integration in Discord came. Currently, Discord users on these two Discord music bots are avoiding ads on the service.

We understand that ads on YouTube are super annoying, but signing up for YouTube Premium is quite worth it. Not only does it allow you to skip ads but as well as save downloads to watch videos offline, access YouTube Music that includes artists' latest tracks, and switch out of the app to do something else without interrupting the video.

Obviously, signing up for the YouTube Premium family plan is the way to go as on average, each member just has to pay up around RM5. It may look like we are advocating the service but we're not (really), just merely offering an alternative. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
